What does a  Head of IT do at One Retail Group?

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Head of IT with a Solutions Architect mindset to optimise, automate, and future-proof our technology ecosystem. With Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC) at the core, this pivotal role will lead the design, integration, and development of technology solutions to drive automation, efficiency, and scalability across the business.

This role spans finance, supply chain, sales, and data functions, ensuring our tech stack and processes align seamlessly with our strategic objectives. The Lead Solutions Architect will also be responsible for leveraging emerging technologies, including AI and advanced automation, to maximise operational impact.

Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Leadership

• Serve as our technology expert, monitoring business requirements and industry trends to build a strategy and implement solutions that drive efficiency and business growth with Microsoft Business Central as our core.

• Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies such as AI, ML that could significantly enhance business performance in the future

• Develop and maintain a cohesive technology roadmap that integrates with our existing tech stack and evolves with business needs.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Oversight

• Lead the functional and technical management of BC, ensuring it supports all aspects of the business.
• Oversee day-to-day BC error resolution, optimising and maintaining existing integrations.
• Coordinate the enhancement of BC functionality by working with external developers.
• Advise on configurations and updates to support new markets, channels, and processes.

Automation & AI-Driven Optimisation

• Identify and implement AI-driven solutions, including automation for forecasting, pricing, advertising and customer interactions (e.g., chatbot development).

• Collaborate with teams across the business to evaluate and streamline manual processes using technology-based solutions.

• Define scalable automation strategies and implement directly or oversee their implementation.

Data Engineering & Insights

• Oversee our data infrastructure which consolidates information across multiple systems (e.g., BC, Amazon, Google Ads).

• Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and readiness for analysis by establishing robust data pipelines.

• Oversee the creation of dashboards and visualisations in Power BI or similar tools to provide actionable insights for business teams.

Project & Product Management

• Manage end-to-end delivery of technology projects, including scoping, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to prioritise and coordinate technology initiatives.

• Ensure alignment between business needs and technical execution by liaising with developers, external partners, and stakeholders.

Vendor & Budget Management

• Manage external technology providers, including contract negotiations and performance oversight.

• Take ownership of the company’s technology budget, ensuring cost-effective investments and measurable ROI.

Our ideal candidate would be someone who...

• Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and familiarity with the broader Microsoft ecosystem, including Power Platform and Azure.

• Proven hands-on experience implementing ERP systems and leading successful technology projects from conception to deployment.

• A deep understanding of technology integration, automation, and project management best practices.

• Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with a focus on delivering measurable business impact.

• Vendor management and negotiation experience, ensuring effective and cost-efficient partnerships.
